Why did I decide to participate in the Erasmus+ program?

Because it’s a great way to have new experiences, improve your language skills and see the world. Travelling or living in another country allows you to discover new cultures, customs and ways of life that differ from your own, which helps you to become more open-minded and better understand other people. You also gain independence and self-confidence, as you have to learn to cope in a new environment.

Why do I think this program is important?

To learn about other cultures and enjoy the experience. It’s also a chance to break out of your routine, meet new people and learn to see the world from a different perspective. It also helps you become more independent, more open-minded and better able to adapt to new situations.

How do you relate your professional role to environmental care?

I’ve taken a course on sustainability at school, and I’m also concerned about the well-being of people and the planet. I believe it’s very important to look after the environment, reduce pollution and protect natural resources for future generations.

What were our expectations before arriving, and how was the arrival?

The experience was actually quite positive, as I’d expected it to be worse, given it was my first time. I thought I’d sometimes struggle to understand things and that I’d be far from home, but in the end I’m settling in better than I’d expected.

Name: Ilenia

Age: 20
City/country: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain
School: ICSE
Hobbies: Writing my thoughts, listening to music and practice English
Favorite music style: Alternative, pop, r&b and more…
Animal I identify with: Swan

Why did I decide to participate in the Erasmus+ program?

Last year, I did an internship in Gran Canaria at a Spanish foundation and even though I really enjoyed it, I wanted to step outside my comfort zone. That’s why I decided to participate in the Erasmus+ program. I wanted to have a completely different experience so I could learn how people work in another country, meet new people, and gain the independence and skills that will help me become a better professional in the future.

Why do I think this program is important?

I believe in the importance of the program because it offers you a unique opportunity as a student, since it allows you to open your mind, adapt and see other ways of thinking and realities that differ from those in our country.

How do you relate your professional role to environmental care?

It’s important to take care of the planet and the people who live on it. People are often unaware of how environmental issues affect their daily lives and a healthy environment improves quality of life.

What were our expectations before arriving, and how was the arrival?

Before I arrived, I felt fear and uncertainty. I didn’t know what Croatia and the people would be like or if I’d be able to adapt to the language and daily life. However, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by everything: many locals speak English and they’re really friendly and helpful.
