Why did I decide to participate in the Erasmus+ program? Why do I think this program is important?
I decided to join Erasmus+ programme because I want to gain new experience, learn more about my future profession, and see how people work in another country. A two-week internship abroad is a great chance to develop new skills, meet new people, and become more confident and independent. I think Erasmus+ is important because it connects people from different cultures, helps us learn from each other, and gives us opportunities to grow – both personally and professionally.
How do we relate our professional role to environmental care?
During my internship at Žmergo in Opatija, I started to understand how my professional role can actually be connected to environmental care. Žmergo is an organization that focuses on protecting the environment and promoting sustainable living, so everything they do is somehow related to nature and taking care of our planet. Even though I study business administration, I realized that my work can still make a difference.
For example, in business administration, we learn about organization, planning, and communication — and those skills are really important for any environmental project. Helping with different tasks at Žmergo showed me that you don’t have to be a scientist or an activist to care about the environment; even in business, we can make responsible choices and support eco-friendly projects. I learned that every role matters when it comes to creating positive change. Working with Žmergo made me more aware of how businesses and organizations can be sustainable, and it inspired me to think about the environment in everything I do, both professionally and personally.
What were our expectations before arriving, and how was the arrival?
Before arriving, I honestly didn’t know exactly what to expect from the Erasmus+ program. I was super excited but also a bit nervous, even though I was going with my friends. We talked a lot about what it might be like. Meeting new people, seeing a new country, and having the chance to learn and grow. I really hoped to improve my English, learn to communicate better, and become a bit more independent. I also just wanted to have a good time and make memories that I’d never forget.
When we finally arrived, everything felt so new and exciting. The trip itself was fun because I had my friends with me, and we couldn’t stop talking about how crazy it was that we were actually doing this. When we got there, the city looked amazing, the people were really friendly, and the atmosphere was so different from home. Even though we were tired, we were too excited to care. We explored, laughed a lot, and tried to take everything in. It felt like the start of something really special. Not just a school trip, but a real experience that would help us grow and see the world from a different perspective.
